Dance for Public Service Queen

ORGANISED BY PALMERSTON NORTH POLICE Arranged to further the candidature of Miss Kathleen Richards, as Public Services Queen, the old-time dance organised by the police of Palmerston North provided a delightful occasion for over 200 patrons ■ on Thursday evening. The function, which had been admirably arranged, was in every way a success. The dancers gave themselves wholeheartedly to the lively music supplied for old-time dances, the duties of M.C.’s being efficiently carried out by Messrs Grant and Goodwin. A particular feature of the oveniug was the introduction to the company of Miss Richards (who was escorted by Mr W. M. Huntington, chairman of the Public Services Queen committee) by the Mayor (Mr A. E. Mansford), who was accompanied by Mrs Mansford. Miss Richards returned thanks to those who were assisting her candidature by holding the function, and those who wero giving their patronage. Musical honours and cheers wore given for Miss Richards. Tho committee in charge of the evening comprised Messrs Miller (chairman), Goodwin, Watt, Ward, Alsop and Grant, assisted by Messrs Christensen and Kjar. The supper was most enjoyable and quickly handed round by a well-organised band of workers.
