CONFUCIUS DESCENDANT MARRIED IN PEIPING.
A Chinese maiden descended from Confucius has been married in Peiping to the grandson of a Shantung scholar. ■She is the elder sister of Mr Hung Tehchun, seventy-seventh in the direct lino from the sage, known to the Chinese as Hung Fu-tze. Upon arrival by train from Chufu, the birthplace of Confucius in Shantung, the bride was taken to her future home in an automobile in place of the gaily bedecked sedan chair used by brides in China from classic times.
The dark and neutral beige, and deep neutral brown shades will bo the leading colours in autumn hosiery. Beige taupe will bo important, the latter especially wearable with the soft greys and eel browns. A function which should attract much, friendly interest is the dance being arranged by Mrs H. Petre, Mrs A. M. Ongley and Miss M. Guy, to be held in the Empire Hall on Saturday, October 21. Excellent entertainment is promised with, good music and many novelties, and the proceeds will bo devoted to furthering the candidature of the Sports Queers Miss Mol lie Nathan.
