WAIPUKURAU, Feb. 17. , A member of the domestic staff of the Rathbone Maternity Hospital left her position on the staff of the hospital when paid tw'O weeks' wages in advance just before Christinas, it was announced at a meeting of the Waipawa Hospital Board to-day by the chairman, Mr. W. H. Rathbone. He said that in accordance with the usual custom the December wages were paid about December 23 or 24. When paid, the person concerned had said, “I'm going, never mind why," and walked out. She had drawn a week’s salary in advance and there was also a week for which she should have given notice, so she actually received two weeks’ salary to which she was not entitled. “Her conscience might bite her," commented a member of the board. “Conscience doesn't bite that sort of person," replied the chairman.
