Reunited in a Police Court
PROFESSOR TAKES HIS WIFE HOME WITH HIM AGAIN A Loudon University professor and his vivacious Belgian wife were reunited in the South-western Police Court—after the magistrate (Mr Clyde Wilson) had reminded the police that his was not a ‘‘court of morals.” The wife, Julie Suitgardis Dechamps, was fined 2s 6d for failing to register change of address under the Aliens Act. Detective-Inspector Clark said she had run away from her husband in J une. ‘‘Then,” he added, ‘‘her husband notified the police his wife was missing,’ and no one knew where she was. ‘‘Mrs Dechamps has been associating with another man, but has not been living with him." Mr Cljde Wilson tto Mrs Dechamps): Why did you fail to notity tho registration office of your change of address? “I did not want to be with my husband,” she replied. ‘‘This is not a court of morals,” Mr Wilson pointed out. ‘‘lt will be sufficient if you are fined 2s 6d." Professor Dechamps, after the case, left the court with, his wife. They talked for a considerable time in the street before walking away. ‘‘My wife is back with me now,”, he said later. ‘‘The whole affair was only a very small matter, and has all been straightened out.”
