Beautiful summer sunshine was enjoyed at the February meeting when there was an attendance of over tiO to welcome Miss Grant and Mesdames McCorkindale and 12. hi. Short, of the North Wellington Federation. These ladies were entertained at lunch by members of the committee prior to the meeting. Mention was made and congratulations had been for warned to Miss Jerome Spencer on her having been awarded the honour ol 0.8. K. The president spoke with regret of the passing
of Mrs. Bibby. Parcels were received for a treasure chest to be sent to the inmates of the Porirua Mental Hgspital. Notice was received from Mrs. Duncan, convener of the Oroua group regarding a speaker tor the next group meeting to be held at Uangiwahia oh April 13. On the recommendation of Miss Grant it was proposed to nominate Miss Spencer who may be in this federation about that date. Miss' Grant then gave a talk on her reminiscences of her trip to the Associated Women of the World’s conference at Washington last year. Members displayed rapt attention to Miss Grant, their only regret being that time did not allow for a lull account of her trip. At the conclusion of her address Miss Grant was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks which was proposed by airs. Boshler and seconded by Mrs. Guthrie and carried with acclamation. Mrs. McCorkindale expressed pleasure at being present at the meeting and also congratulated ltangi- | waliia on their exhibit at the Feilding ! show. Mrs. Short also spoke and gave some helpful advice on organising an arts and crafts circle. Competition win- , hers were: Madeira cake. Miss P. Reilly 11. Mrs. McMillan 2, Mrs. Beilski 3; shoulder spray, Mrs. McMillan 1, Miss [ McKenzie 2, Mrs. Maurice 3. Record entries were received in both these classes and the first four shoulder sprays were presented to the visiting ladies. The next meeting will be the annual meeting and members are reminded that nominations for committee members are to be in the secretary's hands by February 23. Hostesses will be general, and the competition six best asters. A very enjoyable afternoon was brought to a close with afternoon tea and the National Anthem.
