New Zealand Farm Production Praised
EXAMPLE FOR VICTORIA MELBOURNE, Fob 11. New Zealand’s advances in methods of production, and particularly its zeal in applying science to agriculture, impressed the Assistant-Minister for Agriculture, Mr Hyland, and tho Director of Agriculture, Mr 11. A. Mullet, who returned to Melbourne this week after a visit to the Dominion. Every scientific, aid ' possible was made available to farmers in New Zealand, said Mr Mullett. Tho Department of Agriculture was splendidly equipped for that purpose. In each district there was an agricultural adviser, often with an assistant. The staff of advisers numbered 37 and provided a service that had no counterpart in Victoria. Tho dairying industry in New Zealand was conducted on a particularly high plane. It produced consistently good butter and the industry was well equipped for research. The research institute at Massey College conducted classes for butter factory operators. The course .occupied 12 weeks in each of three successive years, and was held in the “flat" factory season. The Wheat Research Institute in Canterbury had given valuable service to growers, millers and bakers, Air Mullett said. A laboratory had been established in Victoria to do similar work. A striking illustration of tho advance made in New Zealand farming was the high carrying capacity of land, particularly in the North Island. The Dominion had adopted rotational grazing very extensively. Tho system was only in its infancy in Victoria. PILES 'ANISHED
