VALUES AT FORDELL The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Limited, report an entry of about 10,000 ewes and lambs at Fordell. A very big proportion of the yarding, however, comprised old ewes which have been declining in price at each sale during the past two weeks. In the early stages competition was very good, and prices were up by about Is on last Friday's values at Feilding. At this stage it appeared that the sale would be entirely successful, but when big lines had been disposed of, and a number of the best buyers had satisfied their requiremnts, the market for all but first-class ewes became less interesting. It brightened up, however, over the concluding stages for some lines of young ewes. Once again lambs sold quite well, especially ewo lambs, which made up to 24s for medium sorts. Medium whiteface wether lambs sold up to 25s and good ewes held their own. A lino of Mr Donald McLeay's five year ewes made 29s and 700 of Air Alexander Macnab's, five-year ewes averaged' about 27s 6d. Wylie Bros, two-tdoth ew r es made 41s Gd, Mr W. J. B. Tripe’s two-tooth ewes 40s Gd, and good sixyear ewes average about 20s Gd. The same ewes at the first Fordell fair nuqJe au average of about. 245. Old and lower conditioned ewes showed a sharp decline, which would have been greater had it not been for Taranaki competition. Alost of v the yarding .was disposed of, although in the later stages passings were more frequent. A few of the realisations' were as .'ollows: 210 two-tooth S.D. ewes, 30s; 55 twotooth ewes, 40s; a/e Air J. W.
