Mrs. Sherwood, of Palmerston North, is visiting Hawera and is the guest of Mrs. J. Gray, of Hawera.
Mrs. J. Thompson, of Hawera, is spending a few days with her mother, Mrs. Shelton, of Palmerston North.
In a news item that appeared in tho Herald-Tribune on February 4, it was stated that attempts wero being made to recover souvenirs from the hulk of the Montmorency which lies near the inner harbour. It was also stated that Mrs Montgomery, of Battery ro'hd, Napier, was one of the passengers on this trip. This has recalled the fact that the Montmorency caught on lire in the Napier roadstead on March 27, 1867, and it has also been revealed that Mrs M. Vincent, of Church street, Palmerston North, was born on that vessel and was named after it. Mrs Vincent’s maiden name was Hebdcn, and a sister, now Mrs J. Wyatt, of Hastings, was also on the Montmorency on her final trip.
