Air Farce Personnel From Feilding

ACCORDED SEND-OFF YESTERDAY Yesterday afternoon the Mayor of Feilding (Mr. T. L. Heddon), ns chairman of the local and district Patriotic (Society, accorded tjvo members of tho Royal New Zealand Air Force a sendoff at the Borough Council Chambers. They are (Sergeants C. K. McKenzie and V. VV. Ferguason who are going overseas shortly. The guests were entertained at ufternoon lea aud each received a leather wallet aud enclosure similar to that presented to all otner members of tho forces which have departed overseas from Feilding. Mr. Seddon, in making the presentations, said that Feilding was proud to bo represented in all sections of tho armed Forces and no was confident mat ♦Sergeants McKenzie and Fergusbon would worthily uphold the traditions of the Flying Corps in whatever sphere of activities they nrigut find themselves. Feilding accorded them me very nest of good washes and hoped for their speedy return. Mr. F. J. Allen, vice-president of the Feilding Returned Souliers’ Association, said that every reiurnea man from the Great War was behind tnose now going forward and they joined m wishing the guests the best of good luck in their venture for King aud country. Already the R.S.A. was taking a deep interest in the weliare of the members of the NOw Guard who were going forward to qualify for membership of an association which had pledged itself to watch the interests of every member of the Forces. Hon. J. G. Cob bo said that he had i learned that when addressing members of the Forces he should never pay compliments. The men were out to do their | duty and did not look for compliments. However, ho knew that the guests ( w ould do well and he hoped to bo present when they were welcomed back to Feilding. * Sergeauts McKenzie and lergussun ! expressed their thanks for the gifts and said that they would do their best to . uphold the high traditions of the Royal j Flying Corps and of the members of I that Force from New Zealand who had ' already distinguished themselves in this war. *
