OBITUARY
MR L. R. CROSBIE
(By Telegraph-Special to “The Mail”) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Tho death of a well-known Canterbury stock auctioneer, Mr Lewis Reginald Crosbie, took place last evening. Mr Crosbie was horn in the Ashburton district and at ail early age began to gain practical experience in stock, particularly in connection with the management of sheep, which later earned him a reputation as one of the foremost authorities on stock in Canterbury. He had mustered over most of the principal stations from Oamaru to Nelson. At one time he was manager of Four Peaks station, Geraldine. Later Mr Crosbie entered the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency, and was in charge of that firm’s stock department for many years. In this capacity and more recently through his connection with the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-op. Association he became a wellknown figure at Addington yards. A keen sportsman in his younger days Mr Crosbie was actively interested in racing, rugby, and boxing. His boxing achievements include winning the New Zealand amateur heavy weight championship. Mr Crosbie, who was a member of the Civic Masonic Lodge, was 58 years of age.
