DEATH OF DR. A. T. KENNEDY
FORMER WORLD CHAMPION SWIMMER (Rec. noon) Sydney, This Day. Dr Arthur Thomas Kennedy, former world swimming champion and record holder, has died here, at the age of 77 years. He was regarded as the swimming phenomenon of his day. Before he went to America in 1891 to complete his dentistry studies he won swimming championships in Australia. In America for three successive years Dr Kennedy won the Atlantic Championship, the National Championship twice and tl.e 100 yards championship of the world. The records which he established for 100 yards and a mile in America stood for many years. Dr. Kennedy gave up competitive swimming when he returned to Australia to practise his profession in 1895.
