UNLAWFUL CONVERSION
TOLICE PATROL CAR’S VIGILANCE Wellington, This Day. The police patrol car introduced by the new Police Commissioner two months ago and which keeps constant touch all night and every night with various police stations in Wellington, got its first mention in court to-day. Its suspicions had been aroused early this morning by a car with a flat tyre and when this car stopped by the railway station, the patrol also stopped and asked a few questions. The car was thus recovered before even a complaint had been lodged and incidentally it was the third the patrol has recovered before the owner knew of the loss. The case to-day concerned a soldier, Harold Eugene Matheson, aged 24, who was charged with unlawful conversion. Accused, it was stated, had picked up a male friend and they had driven about the city for some time. Accused, was convicted and ordered to come ud for sentence if called unon and placed in charge of thf* mil’*ary. th e amount of the damages, £7, to be deducted from his military pay.
