Keferring to tke arrival of the n.s. Taiaroa at Suva, the Suva Times of November sth says :
—" We are informed that the Union line propose to afford facilities to those who wish to vuit the colonies by giving through tickets hence via Auckland to Melbourne and Sidney. At Auckland passengers tranship, and visiting the various New Zealand ports as well as Hobart, Tasmania, hnve the option of remaining at one or each of them over a trip, so that they may see the country leisurely. The cuptain of the Taiaroa his requested us to give publicity to the fi.ci that he had a very narrow escnpe from running down a fore-and-uft schooner in coming to this pert. It was a dirk r.iiny night, and the schooner had ao light whatever, and narrowly escaped a fate that would not have only been disastrous to the vessel and cargo, but might have ciused loss of valuable live?. Surely it is worth the while )f owners and captain 3 to sacrifice the little sum that is requireJ to show proper lighte itt night, rather than incur such risks.
