Oamaru Harbor Board.
The U3aal monthly meeting of the above Board was held to-day, there being present—Messrs J. S. Holmes (chair), Allan, Dennison, Marphy, Rose, Darling. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed and correspondence approved. The Harbormaster roported as follows :
Since my last I have to report tho arrivals and departures of four Bteamships, tho aggregate tonnage being 2418 tons. I have inspected the chart sent by the Marine Department. and find everything correct in it except the inside soundings. If I send to the Marine Department the soundingß aa they are at present and we commenced dredging at a future date, the harbor will only be credited for the present depth. Kindly instruct me. It was decided not to send amended soundings until the contemplated dredging had been done. Mr J. H. Barr wrote offering L 75 for lease of Sumpter s store for one year, tho Board to make the roof and windows watertight. Ib was decided to accept the offer. It was decided to hold the next meeting of the Board on Monday, December 19th. Accounts amounting to L 142 7s were passed for payment. The recommendation of the special committee was adopted—That tho balance in the breakwater repairs account be placed at fixed deposit in the National Bank, and that the Secretary hand the Public Trustee's letter to Messrs Hislop and Creagh with a request to prepare a draft agreement appointing him commissioner of the sinking fund. The Board then rose.
