"Wellington, May 11. The Hon. James Allen told a. Vo.-t reporter to-day that he had received many applications and hoped still t<)> continue to receive them from mechanics anxious to go Home. He had cabled to the Home authorities twice asking if they would accept the services' of these men, but was still awaiting a reply.
