AMERICAN MARINE BAND

ENTHUSIASM IN WANGANUI (P.A.) WANGANUI. Sept. 14. The United States Marine Corps visited Wanganui over the week-end and the opportunity to welcome representatives of the American forces was taken advantage of to the fullest extent. both officially and privately. Twelve hundred persons were present at a dance in a wool store on Saturday night and there was a large crowd in Cook’s Gardens to hear a performance by the band on Sunday afternoon. For the Sunday night concert hundreds were turned away.

The Americans created- a fine impression with their easy friendliness and were given an enthusiastic farewell on the railway station to-day. As a result of their visit over £3OO was raised for patriotic funds.
