ALLEGED MURDER
(Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, December 11. The police are advised that Patrick Kcely, SO years of age, was arrested at Waipawa ve.sterday on a charge of murdering George Dodds by cutting his tliroat on Saturday night. Keely has lived for some months in a whure on the bank of the Waipawa river. Latterly two middle-aged casual labourers, George Dodds and James Wainwright, apparently wandering in search of work, camped near by. Early yesterday morning Wainwright reported to the police that the three men had had a friendly chat on Saturday night, but later Keely came to the other men’s hut and rushing at Dodds inflicted fearful injuries witli a knife, almost severing his head from his body. Me further stated that tlie old man attacked Wainwright, inflicting wounds which, however, are not considered dangerous. THE INQUEST. WELLINGTON, December 11. An inquest was opened this morning, and after formal evidence of identification, was adjourned for a week. Patrick Kelly, charged witli murder, was remanded till Tuesday, the 19th.
