Wanganui Chronicle, and TURAKINA & RANGITIKEI MESSENGER. THURSDAY, 6TH FEBRUARY, 1868.
The following telegram, from the Wellington correspondent of the Otago Times, appeared in a recent number of that journal : —“ Mr Fox was received at Eangitikei with triumphal arches, &c. He said he desired to use his utmost abilities for the Colony at large, and especially for that district. A public dinner is to be held at Wanganui, when Mr Watt is expected to announce his resignation of his seat in the Assembly in Mr Fox’s favour.” Such a statement has occasionally been made. We know that a large number of the electors of Eangitikei are expecting such a thing. We shall see very shortly.
