TIMABU COMPROMISE

TIMARU. September 20. A meeting of citizens determined to celebrate Dominion Day without interfering with the course of business, reading the declaration formally at 11 a:m.. and again in the afternoon during the usual half-holiday. Protests were mad on , behalf of business people .and the .schools against, increasing the number of holidays, and the town school committee refused to give more than ia halfholiday. A compromise was therefore effected.
