LONDON, Sept. 21

A sum of £1500 has been subscribed in Ayr to erect a memorial to Sir Jas. Fergusson and create a benevolent fuid to be associated with his name.

Earl :Eglinton and the Duke of Portland subscribed £100 each. It is hoped that many in South Australia and New Zealand will assist.

(Sir Jame Fergusson, who was killed by the recent earthquake at Jamaica ; was at one time Governor of New Zealand.)
