The undertow is particularly dangerous at Newcastle, where two nurses of * the Newcastle Hospital; named Misses Quayle and Bertram, were carried away.
A" man named Martin gallantly brought both ashore, but Nurse Quaylc was dead. _ - Nurse Bertram is in a critical,condition, and is unlikely to recover. Two men were almost lost in a similar ;nianner at tho same spot an hour later. They were resduod in a state of collapse.
