TOURNEY AT ASHBURTON

AUSHBURTON, December 29

A three days' lawn tennis tournament under the auspices of the Ashburton Tennis Club, was completed on Saturday afternoon, and was most successful. There were- over 200 entries, and the, matches included the South Canterbury championships and handicap games. The results of tho finals were as follows: — Men's Singles (South Canterbury championship)—G. Ollivier beat C. G. White. 6—3, 5—6,— 6-4. Men's Doubles (South Canterbury championship).—W. Goss and G. Ollivier beat A. D. and E. A. Cox, 4—<r 6—4, o—2. Ladies' Singles (South Canterbury championship).—Miss W. Hislop beat Miss E. Jackson, 6—l, 6—5. Men's Singles Handicap (first grade). —R. Manning beat A. Friedlander, B—3. Men's Singles Handicap (second grade)—P. K. Clark beat D. N. Craig, 9—13. Ladies Singles Handicap—Miss L. Souter beat Miss Hislop, 9—3. Men's Doubles Handicap.—A. D. and E. A. Cox beat 0. T. Cuff and R. Manning, 9.5. 1 Ladies Doubles Handicap.—Mrs. Perry and Miss Souter beat Mesdames Lord and Fapps, 9—6. ! Combined Handicap.—C. E. Weir and Miss E. Tennant beat C. T. Cuff and Mrs. Cuff, 9—B.
