MARTON NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Christmas, 1907, is numbered with the past. The weather, unfortunately, proved wet, rain setting in tbe day before and continuing off and on all Christinas Day. In spite of the ciamp weather, however, crowds of people thronged tho streets on Christmas Eve, and goo-el business was done by all our shopkeepers. The Martnn Brass Band turned out to play carols, but the rain vanquished them. Boxing Day x>roTo-d line, with a south-easterly t-ie^zo, which w.as rather pleasant than otherwise. Many picnic parties had an enjoyable outing in the country. The bowliJig tournament drew a Largo crowd ■together, «nd included visitors from Palinerston North, Feilding, and Wanganm.
