MANGAWHERO ROAD BOARD.
Tho ordinary monthly meeting of tho Mangawhcro Road Board was held on Saturday, sth inst., at 10.30 a.m. PRESENT. — Messrs Hamilton, O'Halloran, Ross and Speed. The Clerk slated that Mr Mason had asked him to apologise for his unavoidable absence.
On the motion of Mr Speed, Mr Ross was voted to the chair.
The Clerk read tho Returning Officer's announcement declaring Mr John O'Hallora-n duly elected a member cf tho Board vice Mr Mo^ resigned. Mr Ewen Campbell waited on the Board on behalf of the up-river ratepayers to ask for a grant of £10 towards cost of forming a bridle trade at Paparoa stream.—Application granted. Accounts amounting to £91 8s 8d were parsed for payment. The Banli book showed a credit balance of £954 17s 4d.
Following in ward correspondence was read: —Letter from S. A. Robinson applying for expenditure of accrued thirds in widening Waipapa Road to a 12-foot track.—Resolved to approve tho expenditure.
From Commissioner of Crown Lands, forwarding schedule of accrued thirds. From Receiver Land Revenue advisiuf> that the sum of £232 12s Bd, being ordinary thirds, accrued from sec. 1 and 2. block XIII. Ngamatea, and sec. 2, block T. Mangawhibro, lmd bean placed to credit of Board's account at B*nk of Now South Wales.
It was resolved that the foreman draw up specification and call for tenders for the proposed work, to bo returned by next matting. From H. A Lambert offering £25 towards cost of metalling hill portion of road to his property.—Resolved that the matter be left in hands of Mr Speed and the foreman, with power to accept the, offer and expend an additional £25 in metalling and repairing tho read referred to.
From the Secretary of the Harbour Board ro road at' quarries, Dix and Marchant, reporting on the Upokongaro road deviation, Valuer-General correcting roll.
TENDERS FOR METALLING.— Four tenders were received for the annual metalling contract,, and it was resolved to accept the lowest, viz., that of Messrs Thomas and Nayior's, £458.
It was resolved to expend a sum of not moro than £5 in cutting the willow trees on the river bank read above Upokongaro. Mr Speed gave notice of motion to alter meeting day to first Friday in the month
Mr Hamilton reported that the ratepayers in the Turakina- block wished to raiso two special loans of £20CO each under tho. Local Bodies Loans Act, 1908 (a) for -the purpose of widening and forming Te Ivomai Road into a dray road, (b) and forming a dray road commencing at" the junction of the Upokongaro Road. • On tho motion of Mr Ros?, it was resolved that the' Chairman b? requested to apply to the Hon. the Minister of Finance for his provisional consent to the two loans.
It was resolved to authorise Ihe foreman to order drain pipes for four culverts, and fencing material for the Upokongaro Road deviation at Lsmore.
No other lousiness 'coming forward, the meeting adjourned.
