Received December 8, 11.58 p.m. LONDON, December 8. Tiio House of Commons assented to the withdrawal of the Education Bill. Mr A.squith remarked that the correspondence showed the condition of affairs, and he agreed that no chanco of settlement at present existed. He expressed his deep personal disappointment at its breakdown, and his admix*- | ation of the strenuous, patient, and indomitable efforts of Mr Runciman and tho peacemakers on both sides. Mr Asqiiith designated the Primate as tho "Great Archbishop.'' Mr Balfour recognised Mr Asquith's sincerity, but criticised the Government's attempt to rush through a Bill ■containing in black and white onlywhat tho Church was called on to rcr linquish and leaving open until the .end what the Church was to receive.
