LABOUR PARTY'S MANIFESTO.
A STRONG INDICTMENT,
AND A BIG ORDER
Received December G, 9.5-5 p.m
LONDON, December 6
The Labour Party has issued a mairi-j festo in which it is stated that the great question is whether the Peers or tho People are to rule. The party welcomes the opportunity to prove that the feudal age is past and the people are no longer willing to live on the sufferance of the Lords. The present system of land ownership has devastated the countryside, imposed heavy burdens on industries, cramped the development of towns, crippled capital, and impoverished labour. The experience of four year{; had demonstrated the value of a Labour. Party acting independently. The right to work' has still to ba won, but is now within the range of practical politics. Tho poor law must be broken up, pauperism abolished, old-age pensions extended and increased on the presout non-contributory basis,, the franchise restrictions (including the 'Sex bar) must bo swept away. The manifesto concludes: " Tho working and midd's cbis-es aro still overburdened with rntc." and tnxe^. Vet^ for Labour candidates, land for the people, and wealth for the wealth-producers. Down with, privilege! Up with the people!"
