WAVERLEY NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) At a meeting of tho committee of the W.W. Racing Club last Friday the matter of purchasing a strip ot land at the back of the grand stand came up for discussion. After a brief interval it was unanimously decided to purchase two acres of land from Mr Robert Bremer at £150 per acre. 'Ihe club are to be congratulated on their new venture, which will no doubt be much appreciated by the public sifter the cramped experience of the lat? meeting. The matter of further sirv proving the stand and paddock was n ft to be dealt with later on.
The building trade is very brisk just now. The builders established here report plenty of work in hand for several months.
The School Committee met last Friday to consider the value of prizes to be given away at the Christinas vacation on the 17th inst. It was decided that the head master and two of the committee procure the p-ies. Tho schoolchildren are to forego their concert this year, owing to the :ninference of tho examinations. However, this will only deprive the little ones having to wait until next F.-.'-eter.
