WAITOTARA COUNTY COUNCIL.
The usual monthly meeting of tho AVailotara County Council was held yesterday, when there were present: Councillors Ritchie (chairman), Ross, Connor, Morrison, Dempsey, Mitchell, Handley, and Russell. ROVD EXTENSION.—The Council decided to auk Mr J. Handley on what terms ho would give the land to continue the road from Mowhanau Township to Okehu Railway Station. NGATURJ ROAD.—Mrs Wilson wrote agreeing to pay half the cost ot takin"- the-Ngaturi Road (Brunswick) through McGrath's property.—The offer was accepted, and the clerk was instructed to take steps to have the land taken under the Public Works Act. MUSEUM.—The Council agreed^ to contribute its annual grant of £25 to the Wanganui Public Museum. KAI IWI.—Mr W. Bruce waited on the Board and asked that a bridge ba erected at Upper Kai Iwi. The foreman was instructed to prepare plans and estimate the cost by next meeting. RE-ERECTION.—The Council dcclii.cd to grant permission to F. S. Smith to erect an office at Aramoho out of the <M materials from the Webbanui Boardir.ghouse. TOKOMARU VALLEY ROAD.—Mr Annabell is to be requested to survcv the deviation in Tokomaru Valley Road, and steps are to bo taken t, y complete the transfer. ' ACCOUNTS.—Accounts amounting to £306 16s 5d were passed for payment.
NEXT MEETING.—The next meeting of the Council will be held on January 10th. BRUNSWICK ROAD.—Tenders are to be called for metalling part of this road.
ST. JOHN'S HILL-.—The chairman's action in the recent •conference with the Borough Council was endorsed.
BLUESKIN ROAD.—Gravelling repairs from Main Road to Railway over bridge are requh-ed.
KAI IWI BEACH- ROAD.—Metalling about 50 chains of formation is necessary.
BAYLY ROAD.—The portion from Main Road to Manson's gate is in a very unsatisfactory condition.
ROAD OBSTRUCTIONS.-Jn several cases (mentioned) gorse and trees are an obstruction to traffic PAREKAMA ROAD.—Mr J. Anderson is sanding the clay hill on this road; the total cost will be about £1(5. STOCK WANDERlNG.—Complaints are very numerous concerning wandering stock. The best remedy is through the medium of the S.M. Court. The driving fee when enforced is apparently only considered cheap grazing. FOREMAN'S REPORT. Roads.—The roads are in fair order, The foreman reported as follows:— and good progress is being made with works in hand. Improvements authorised for Upper Heads Road are completed, material used being: Gravel 118 yards, and clay 229 yards. Eightyfive yards of clay were used on Castlecliff end. The total cost is approximately £98, of which the Castlecliff Board is responsible for £7. Embankments on River Bank Road (Kaikokopu and Field's Creeks) halve been protected with post and rail fence. Culvert has been put in across London St. at Spear Street junction to prevent water lodging. Other routine works have been completed. The report was adopted. Tenders aro to be called for several of the necessary works. Cases of wandering stock will incur immediate proceedings in S.M. Court.
