("Per Pry&s Association.}
CHRISTCHURCH, December 7. In the course, of his address at the annual meeting of the Girls' Friendly Society this afternoon, Bishop Julius spoke at some length on the wisdom of promoting social gatherings for girls and their friends. Girls who joined the society, he sajd, all expected to be married. He did not know whether there was a tendency, in the society to regard young men" with horror, but it seemed to him it was just possible that tho society, might keep girls so very much aloof fromv'young men that they would have to^leayg .the society if they wanted to get married. It 'was perfectly natural that girls should want their young men and perfectly proper, and the very best thing the society could do would be to help girls to find right young men. He'would not like to think -that in order to find their young men girls must say goodbye to the society, .which might be supposed to have, a down, on young men. He would like to ask whether it would not be possible for the society to promote social gatherings to which girls might bring their. young men. If he was head of the Girls' Friendly Society he would take an art gallery and have a. big dance once a year, and lead. off himself. He would not be a bit afraid of secularising die society. Personally he believed that dancing was one of the things which should be Christianised. I
