A SUGGESTED BONUS.
The improvement of the efficiency of those railway, officials who act' as examiners of the undergear of the rolling stock during the stops at stations is tho object of a suggestion that Mr Ballard has made to tho Minister for Railways. The member for Eden suggests that a small bonus be paid to an examiner for every flaw detected. This, he points out, will tend to cause the men to perfect themselves in their worK and to thus ensure a greater measure of protection to tho travelling public. The Minister has promised to give the proposal his careful consideration.
