Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Bill. The Labour Bills Committee, to which has been referred the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Bill, has the honour to report that it has carefully considered the same, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed. 31st July, 1914.

No. 165 (1913).—Petition of Napier Retailers' Association. Praying for further amendment of the Shops and Offices Act Amendment Bill. [ am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make in regard to this petition. 2nd September, 1914.

No. 101. —Petition of Jean Meikle and 44 Others. Protesting against the abolition of clause 20 of the Factories Act Amendment Bill. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make with regard to this petition. 2nd September, 1914.

No. 230, Petition of Arthur Rayner and 8 Others ; No. 265, Petition of F. L. Smith and 12 Others ; No. 292, Petition of -I. PoDMORE and (i Others; No. 299, Petition of A. W. DILLIMON and 4 Others ; No. 312, Petition of Rupert ALLEfTand 15 Others; and No. 382, Petition of John Lovett and 20 Others. Praying that club waiters be exempt from the award re hotel servants. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make in regard to these petitions. 2nd September, 1914.

I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee these petitions should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 2nd September, 1914.

Industrial Unions and Trade-unions Enabling Bill. The Labour Bills Committee, to which was referred the above-mentioned Bill, lias the honour to report that it has carefully considered I he same, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed with amendments as shown on copy of the Bill attached hereto. 15th September, 1914.

Shops and Offices Amendment Bill. The Labour Bills Committee, to which was referred the above-mentioned Bill, lias the honour to report that it has carefully considered the same, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed with amendments as shown on copy of the Bill attached hereto. 29th October, 1914.,-

Special Report. The Committee places on record its high appreciation of the services of the Chairman, Hon. Mi , . I. A. Millar, for the skill, courtesy, and ability with which he conducted the business of the Committee. 29th October, 1914. _

Final Report. Tμ k Labour Bills Committee held its final meeting on the 29th October, 1914. During the session the Committee met on 9 occasions, the average attendance being 77. The following Bills were referred to the Committee and were duly reported upon : Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Bill; Industrial Unions and Trade-unions Enabling Bill ; Shops and Offices Amendment Bill. The Committee had before it for consideration 10 petitions, which were dealt with as follows :— Referred to the Uovernment for favourable consideration . . .. .. 2 The Committee had no recommendation to make upon .. . . .. 8 The number of reports brought down by the Committee and presented to the House was 9. 29th October, 1914.
