ORDERS OF REFERENCE. Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives. Thursday, the 14th Day of July, 1938. Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to consider all matters pertaining to agricultural and pastoral industries and stock which may be referred to it, with power to confer and sit together with any similar Committee which may be appointed by the Legislative Council, and to agree to a joint or separate report: the Committee to consist of Mr. Barclay, Mr. C. H. Burnett, Mr. T. D. Burnett, Mr. Coulter, Mr. Hunter, Mr. Kyle, Mr. Poison, Mr. Roberts, Mr. Williams, and the Mover."—(Hon. Mr. Led Martin.) Friday, the 15th Day of July, 1938. Ordered, " That all petitions not finally dealt with during the session of 1937-38 be again referred to the same Committees as they were referred to during the said session." —(Right Hon. Mr. Savage.) Friday, the 29th Day of July, 1938. Ordered, " That the Stock Amendment Bill be referred to the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee."—(Hon. Mr. Lee Martin.) Tuesday, the 6th Day of September, 1938. Ordered, " That the Slaughter of Stock and Inspection of Meat Bill be referred to the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee."—(Hon. Mr. Lee Martin.) Ordered, " That the Stallions Bill be referred to the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee." —(Hon. Mr. Lee Martin. ) Monday, the 12th Day of September, 1938. Ordered, " That the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee have leave to sit during the present sitting of the House." —(Mr. Roberts.)
REPORTS. Nos. 114-176/1937-38. —Petitions? of H. Sparrow and Another and W. J. Herring and 2,565 Others. Praying for increase in the prices fixed for dairy-produce for the current season. I have the honour to report that the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee has considered these petitions, but as the subject-matter thereof is being dealt with at a Committee elsewhere at which the petitioners' representations are being considered, this Committee has no recommendation to make. 24th August, 1938.

No. 50. —Petition of A. S. Holmes and 12 Others (representing the Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand). Praying that the restrictions on the importation of stock direct from Great Britain be removed. I have the honour to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 24th August, 1938.
Stock Amendment Bill. I have the honour to report that the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee have carefully considered the above Bill, and recommend that it be allowed to proceed, with the amendments shown on the copy of the Bill attached hereto. 13th September, 1938.
Stallions Bill. I have the honour to report that the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee have carefully considered the above Bill, and recommend that it be allowed to proceed, with the amendment shown on the copy of the Bill attached hereto. B. Roberts, Chairman. 13th September, 1938.
Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee desires to place on record its appreciation of the ability and courtesy with which the Chairman, Mr. Roberts, has presided over the meetings of the Committee during the session. It further desires that this resolution shall be recorded on the minutes of the Committee and be reported to the House. T. D. Burnett, Member of the Committee. 14th September, 1938.
Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee desires to place on record its appreciation of the services rendered by the Clerk of the Committee, Mr. E. B. Harman, and, further, desires this resolution to be recorded on the minutes of the Committee and be reported to the House. 14th September, 1938.
Final Report. I have the honour to report that the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee, consisting of ten members, has held seven meetings during the session, with an average attendance at each meeting of five members. Two petitions and two Bills were referred to the Committee and reported to the House. B. Roberts, Chairman. 14th September, 1938.
