I have the honor to report on the working of the North Island railways for the twelve months ending 30th June, 1878. „ (vno 9m The mileage of railways opened for traffic in the North Island, on the 30th June 18/7, was 206 miles 17 chains, and on 30th June, 1878, 309 miles 1 chain, being an increase ot 102 miles 03 chains. The dates of opening the several lengths are given in Table No. 1.
