The Native Land Puechase Bill. I am directed to report that the Native Affairs Committee, to whom was referred the abovementioned Bill, have duly considered the same, and are of opinion it should be allowed to proceed, with the amendments as shown on the copy attached hereto. 14th September, 1892.

No. 363.—Petition of Arapatu Punga and 79 Others. Petitionees pray that the lands belonging to the Ngatirahiri Tribe may not be brought under the provisions of " The West Coast Settlement Eeserves Act, 1892," and that the Natives themselves may have control of the land instead of the Public Trustee ; also, that the balance of compensationmoney due for land taken for military and other purposes be handed over to them. I am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion this petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. 16th September, 1892.

No. 512. —Petition of Pitama Pieika and 40 Others. Petitioners pray that the Ngatirahiri Tribe may be allowed to deal with their own lands, instead of same being left in the hands of the Public Trustee. They also pray that the balance of com-pensation-money due for lands taken for military and other purposes may be handed over to them. I am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion this petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. 16th September, 1892,
