No. 303. —Petition of Hapi Puketapu and 26 Others. Petitionees pray that a medical practitioner may be appointed to attend the Maoris in the Pitoone, Hutt, and surrounding districts. I have the honour to report that the Committee recommend that this petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 11th September, 1895.

Petitioners pray that the law may be amended to allow them the privilege of selling their lands to whom they please, and of managing their affairs themselves. I have the honour to report that the Committee recommend that provision be made in the Native Bill flow before the House to give effect to the prayer of the petitioners. Uth September, 1895.

No. 335.—Petition of Wieemu Pita Taueua. Petitionee states that he is the sole owner of Karaka No. 1 Block, which he wishes to sell to the best advantage. He prays that the law may be amended to allow him to do this to whom he pleases. I have the honour to report that the Committee recommend that provision be made in the Native Bill now before the House to give effect to the prayer of the petitioner. 11th September, 1895.

No. 236.—Petition of Te Mica and 15 Others. Petitionees allege that a reserve originally laid down for them in the Waipuku, Patea Block, the land on which the Town of Stratford now stands, was taken by Government, and one of much less value given to them instead. They pray for compensation. I have the honour to report that the Committee recommend that this petition be referred to the Government for inquiry. I.7th September, 1895.
