No. 271, 1894.—Petition of Hoani Meihana te Eangiotu and Another. Petitionees pray that they be paid for the 7,625 acres of" land which they allege Government took in excess when purchasing the Pahiatua Block. I have the honour to report that the Committee, considering the petitioners have good grounds for their claim, recommend that this petition be referred to the Government for inquiry. 17th September, 1895.

No. 241.—Petition of Eaumati Pomakabibi and 430 Others. Petitionees pray that their shares in the Manawapou Block, near Patea, may be individualised, and that they may receive advances for the purpose of making the land produce sufficient to support them. I have the honour to report that the Committee recommends that this petition be referred to the Government, for the purpose of having the matter inquired into by the Stipendiary Magistrate of the district in which the land is situated. 17th September, 1895.

No. 264.—Petition of Tenetahi. Petitionee prays that compensation be granted for the wrongful taking of his share of the Little Barrier Island. I have the honour to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make with reference to this petition. 17th September, 1895.

No. 234—Petition of Enoka te Taitu and 31 Others. Petitioners complain that the Native owners of the reserves of " tenths " in Wellington are unable to obtain moneys due on the same. They pray for relief. I have the honour to report that the Committee indorses the recommendation made on a similar petition in 1893, namely : that the matter should be inquired into and adjusted by a Judge of the Native Land Court; and they are of opinion that immediate steps should be taken by the Government to have that recommendation carried into effect. 18th September, 1895.

No. 274. —Petition of Hohepa Hoeomona and 7 Others. Petitioners pray that legislation may be provided to empower, the Public. Trustee to pay over to them their shares of the Ngatitoa trust moneys. ; 3—l. 3.
