No. 153.—Petition of Wieemu Eikihana and 3 Others. Petitionees allege that the award of the Native Land Court at Waikanae, in the matter of the Paruauku No. 1 Block, has been wrongfully upset by a subsequent partition Court; they pray for a rehearing. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make with regard to this petition. 12th August, 1896.

No. 305.—Petition of Wieamina Ngahuka and 109 Others. Petitioners pray that a Crown grant may be issued to them for a piece of land called Puketitiri, Hawke's Bay District. I am directed to report that the Committee recommend that this petition be referred to the Government for inquiry. 19th August, 1896.

No. 270. —Petition of Pouwhaeeumu Toi. Petitionee alleges that the descendants of Toi have been wrongfully deprived of their rights in the Turangatapuae Block, Taranaki District; and prays for restitution or other relief. I am directed to report that, as this matter was fully inquired into and settled by the West Coast Eoyal Commission, this Committee has no recommendation to make. 19th August, 1896.

No. 208.—Petition of Tahuei Kaoea. Petitionee, a blind man, states that the 4s. per week now allowed for the maintenance of himself and family is insufficient, and prays for an increase. I am directed to report that the Committee recommend that this petition be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 19th August, 1896.
