No. 352.—Petition of Ihaka Paka and Others. Petitioners allege that when the sale of the Manawatu-Kukutauaki Block took place they stipulated for a reserve of 1,000 acres, but when the quantity handed over to them was surveyed they found there was only 987 acres. They pray for the return of the 13 acres short. I am directed to report that the Committee, having ascertained all the circumstances connected with the case, are of opinion the petitioners have no claim for consideration. 11th September, 1896.

No. 189.—Petition of Retitia Maremabe and 40 Others. Petitioners allege that the Rev. Archdeacon Williams, of Te Aute College, is wrongfully in possession of a .piece of land called Otane, containing Te Roto-o-Tara, and part known as Tauwhare. They pray for restitution. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make with regard to this petition. 15th September, 1896.

No. 190.—Petition of Ibimina Tutua and 62 Others. Petitioners pray that the Whatuma Lake, near Waipukurau, may be returned to them. I am directed to report that the Committee recommend that this petition be referred to the Government for consideration. 15th September, 1896.

No. 206.— Petition of Te Kawau Himiona and Others. Petitioners pray for a rehearing in regard to the Maurihoro Block. I am directed to report that the Committee recommend that this petition be referred to the Government for consideration. 15th September, 1896.
