Ueewera District Native Eeserve Bill. I have the honour to report that the Native Affairs Committee, to whom was referred the above Bill, have duly considered the same, and recommend that it be allowed to proceed, subject to the amendments as shown in a copy attached hereto. 18th September, 1896.

No. 277.—Petition of Peha Eawiea Whakataka and Others. Petitioners protest against the passing of Mr. Wi Pere's Native Land Bill. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make with regard to this petition. 24th September, 1896.

No. 369. —Petition of Te Koeowhiti Tuataka. Petitionee prays that the recommendation of the Native Affairs Committee of last year on the question of -her grievances in connection with Waiharakeke and Okauia Blocks may be carried into effect. I am directed to report that the Committee are of opinion that immediate steps should be taken by the Government to carry out the recommendation referred to. 24th September, 1896.

I am directed to report that the Committee recommend that this petition be referred to the Government for consideration, with legislation pending on the question. 24th September, 1896.
