NORTH ISLAND MAIN TRUNK RAILWAY: DETAILS OF EXPENDITURE OF £1,000,000 LOAN.

Return to an Order of the House of Representatives dated sth July, 1898. Ordered, " That there be laid before this House a return showing how the £1,000,000 loan, which was originally ear-marked for the North Island Trunk Railway, has been expended ; showing (a) how much of the loan indicated has been spent on railway-construction, (b) how much has been spent on roads and other public works, (c) the amount expended in the purchase of Native lands, and (d) the localities in which the aforesaid loan-money has been expended."—(Mr. Holland.)
