Ponsonby. —Some repairs, painting, and improvements in the yard were done to the policestation. Netoton. —Some repairs to the police-station paths have been done. Auckland. —Small repairs have been done to the police-station, some fire-prevention doors have been fixed, and also a fire service in the married quarters. The billiard-table lamps have been improved, and the reading- and uniform-rooms altered. A contract has been let for matron's quarters and lock-up. Slow progress is being made owing to scarcity of bricks. Papakura. —Police-station was put in a state of repair. Hamilton West. —A contract for the erection of police-station buildings has been satisfactorily completed. Cambridge. —Some fencing has been put up between the police-station and the Courthouse. Gisborne. —A contract for the erection of police-station was finished in February. Since then some alterations to it and the gaol have been done by day-labour. Post-offices. Auckland. —Extensive alterations have been carried out by day-labour. A large mail-room has been obtained, the money-order office has been enlarged, the general entrance has been improved, and better access to the private boxes provided ; the building has been partly painted inside and out; further works are in progress. A cottage for the caretaker has been built, and is ready for occupation. Bussell. —Some small repairs and painting were done to the post-office. Paparoa. —A design for a post-office building has been prepared. Oha°aivai. —Eepairs and renovations authorised for the post-office have been finished. Dargaville. —Tenders have been called for the erection of a post-office in brick. Aratapu. —A contract has been let for the erection of a post-office, and the work has been started. Whareponga. — A contract has been let for the erection of a school, the timber is delivered, and work started. Whakarewarewa. —-A contract for the erection of a school has been let, and some progress has been made with the work. Parawera.— Tenders have been called for the erection of a school. Kerepehi. —A tender has been accepted for the erection of a school. Miscellaneous. Auckland Lunatic Asylum. —-Twenty rooms have been added to the female wing. Extensive additions to the male wing are nearly finished; completion has been delayed by the non-arrival of the locks from England. The ventilation in the old female wing has been improved. Industrial School, Mount Albert. —A new waterpipe has been laid, and an iron outside staircase provided as a fire-escape. Ponsonby Hall. —This building is in fair order, but some repairs are required. Contracts have been let for the usual supplies of coal and firewood and for chimney-sweeping. Seven contracts for stores supply have been let.
