No. 446, Session ll.—Petition of W. R. Thomas and 176 Others, of Ohura. Petitioners pray for the extension of a railway-line between Stratford and Ongarue. I am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion that this petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. 23rd October, 1906.

No. 590, Session ll.—Petition of F. T. Moore, of Johnsonville. Petitioner prays for an inquiry to be made into matters connected with the meat trade. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make in respect to this petition. 23rd October, 1906.

No. 553, Session II. —Petition of F. Robbie and 7 Others, of Aohanga South. Petitioners pray for an alteration of the boundaries between the Counties of Akitio and Masterton. I am directed to report that, as no alteration of boundaries can legally be made without the consent of the local bodies interested, the petitioners have no remedy excepting through that source, and therefore the Committee has no further recommendation to make. 23rd October, 1906.

No. 279, Session II. —Petition of James Regan, of Auckland. Petitioner prays for an inquiry to be held into the management of the Avondale Asylum, and the treatment of the patients by Dr. Beattie. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make in respect to this petition. 23rd October, 1906.

No. 531, Session II. —Petition of W. Martin, of 10 Ruskin Street, Christchurch. Petitioner prays for further retiring-allowance or compassionate grant for service in the Magistrate's Court at Christ&hurch. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make in respect to this petition. 23rd October, 1906.

No. 303, Session II. —Petition of R. Skinner and 76 Others, of Tuapeka Mouth. Petitioners pray for an alteration of the boundaries of the Bruce and Tuapeka Counties. I am directed to report that the Committee recommends the petitioners to request the Bruce and Tuapeka County Councils to confer with reference to the proposed alteration of boundaries, with a view to benefiting the area occupied by the petitioners, and therefore the Committee has no further recommendation to make to the Government. 23rd October, 1906.

No. 445, Session ll.—Petition of W. Peyor and 228 Others, of Ross. Petitioners pray for the railway to be brought into the Ross Township. I am directed to report that, as this petition involves a question of public policy, the Committee is of opinion that it should be referred to the Government for consideration. 26th October, 1906.

No. 653, Session II. —Petition of J. McCluggaoe and 119 Others, of Waitara. Petitioners pray for a grant for a road. I am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion that this petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. 26th October, 1906.

No. 594, Session ll.—Petition of J. R. Martin, of Mount Albert, Auckland. Petitioner prays for compensation for fines inflicted against him in a Health Act prosecution at Auckland. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make in respect to this petition. 26th October, 1906.
