The appellant contends that the persons objected to by him have no right to such large interests, as they have but one line of descent from the ancestor. No objection was made to this case, though this Commission allowed the matter to remain open from the 21st January to the 28th March, 1907, so as to afford time for the persons affected thereby to appear and show cause why their shares should not be reduced as asked, if they so desired. The persons objected to did not, however, appear, and on the adjournment of the Commission at Te Whaiti on the 28th March last this case was declared to be finally closed. In our opinion the reduction of shares asked for is justified, and we have prepared and attached to the file of Waikarewhenua Block a list of the said persons, twenty-three in all, numbered respectively in the order from 378 to 400, inclusive, with interests reduced as shown therein. We recommend that the order be amended accordingly. Appeal No. 59. —8y Tiopira Tamaikoha, asking that the interest of the appellant Tiopira Tamaikoha, No. 418 in the order, be increased from four shares to twenty shares, so as to make his interest equal to that of other members of his family who are in the order, and that the name of his granddaughter Titia Teko, f., eight years, be added to the order with an interest of five shares. To this appeal no objection is made, and we recommend that the order be amended accordingly to give effect thereto. Appeal No. 62. —8y Te Haenga Paretipua and others. This appeal was withdrawn by Te Haenga, there being no objectors. We recommend that it be dismissed. Recapitulation of amendments recommended to be made under the appeals in this block: — (1). Two new names, numbered 506 and 507 respectively, in additional list of owners attached tii file to be added to the order. (2.) The interest of Tiopira Tamaikoha, No. 418 in order, to be increased from four shares to twenty shares. (3.) The interests of the twenty-three owners, numbered respectively from 378 to 400 in the original order, to be reduced to the number of shares set opposite the name of each of them respectively in the manuscript list attached to the file of Waikarewhenua Block. The seven persons whose names are hereunder set out are the persons who have been selected by the owners of the land from amongst their number and proposed by them as the members for the -Hapu Committee for this block, and agreed to by all the owners present before this Commission sitting at Whakatane on the Bth day of March, 1907 : — 1. This was agreed to by the owners of the land, there being no objectors. We have therefore attached a list of these twenty-five additional persons, with individual shares as shown therein, to the file, and numbered them from 340 to 364, inclusive. We recommend that the said list of names and shares be added to the order. Appeal No. 6J f . —By Tapui Kaka and others, for inclusion of five additional names in the order. This was agreed to by the owners, and we have therefore inserted the five names referred to numbered from 365 to 369, inclusive —with their individual shares as shown, in the list attached to the file. We recommend that these names be added to the order accordingly. Appeal No. 65. —8y Tupara Tamana, claiming the inclusion of thirty-one additional persons omitted from the order at the time of last Commission. The owners of the land having agreed to the inclusion of these persons for the individual shares asked, we have therefore added them to the list of additional names attached to the file, and numbered them respectively from 370 to 400, inclusive. We are of opinion that these names and shares should be added to the order as asked, and we recommend that they be so added accordingly. The five persons whose names are hereunder set out are the persons who have been selected bv the owners" of the land from amongst their number and proposed by them as the members for the Hapu Committee for this block, and agreed to by all the owners present before this Commission sitting at Whakatane on the Bth day of March, 1907: — 1.
