No. 315.—Petition of Henry William Reynolds, of 654 Colombo Street, Christchurch. Praying for remission of the fine and costs in a case brought against the petitioner for exhibiting in his window a paper without an imprint. No. 316. —Petition of John Solomon Taylor, of Ingestre Street, Wanganui. Praying for a retrial of the case in which the petitioner was convicted of the theft of a bicycle and sentenced to three months' imprisonment with hard labour. I am directed to report that the Committee recommends that a retrial be granted in accordance with the petitioner's request. 15th October, 1912.

Praying for an amendment of the Immigration Restriction Act, 1908, in order that one Chine' Foo be permitted to reside in New Zealand, the said Ching Foo having prior to visiting his native country in 1910 resided twenty years in this Dominion. I am directed to report that, in the opinion of the Committee, the petition should, be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 22nd October, 1912.
