Final Report. 1 have the honour to report that the Native Affairs Committee held its final meeting on Monday, the 30th October, 1922. During the session the Committee met on 44 occasions, with an average attendance of 8. Including 61 petitions brought forward from last session, the Committee had before it 209 petitions. Of these petitions 114 were considered, and reported upon, and the remaining 95 are held over until next session. With regard to 77 petitions the Committee recommended that they be referred to the Government as follows : 1 for immediate and favourable, consideration, 5 for favourable consideration, 13 for inquiry, 1 for partial inquiry, 1. for departmental inquiry, 10 for consideration, and 46 merely referred. With regard to 2 petitions the Committee recommended that they be referred to the Native Department. Upon 32 petitions the Committee had no recommendation to make ; 2 petitions were withdrawn ; and 1, owing to the death of the petitioner, had lapsed. The Rotorua Borough Bill, the Fencing Amendment Bill, the Land and Income Tax Amendment Bill, the Greymouth Native Reserve Bill, the Mining Amendment Bill, the Horouta District Licensing Poll Bill, the Native Trustee Amendment Bill, and the Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Bill were referred to the Committee, and were duly considered and reported upon. One parliamentary paper of session 1921-22, and 11 of this session, were referred to the Committee, and were duly considered and reported upon.
