The amount actually paid over to local bodies during the year was £427,900, and to settlers £25,485. Local bodies are now indebted (in respect of 1,059 loans) to the extent of £1,404,643 2s. 7d. ; and 389 settlers, £258,816 9s. 5d.: a total of £1,663,459 12s. in respect of principal moneys.
