REPORTS.

No. 47. —Petition of G. B. Lyon, of Waiiganui. Praying lor compensation of £500 in respect of the loss of his son, John William Lyon, who was killed at Alexandra, Otago Central, while in the employ of the Otago North Power Board. I have the honour to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 21st September, 1939.

No. 107/1938. —Petition of T. Wilson, of Hastings. Praying for additional compensation in respect of an accident sustained while in the employ of the Public Works Department. 1 have the honour to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 27th September, 1939.

Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Bill (No. 2). I have the honour to report that the Labour Bills Committee has carefully considered the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Bill (No. 2) and ta,ken evidence thereon, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed without amendment. 29th September, 1939. Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Labour Bills Committee desires to record its appreciation of the care and ability with which the Chairman, Mr. C. H. Chapman, has conducted the business of the Committee during the session ; and it also desires that this resolution shall be recorded on the minutes of the Committee, and be reported to the House. 6th October, 1939. g. Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Labour Bills Committee desires to record its appreciation of the services rendered by the Clerk, Mr. D. H. Dopson, in the discharge of his various duties during the session ; and it also desires that this resolution shall be recorded" in the minutes of the Committee, and be reported to the House. 6th October, 1939.

Final Report. I have- the honour to report that the Labour Bills Committee, consisting of eleven members, has held four meetings during the session, with an average attendance of five members at each meeting. I wo petitions and one Bill have been considered by the Committee and reported to the House. 6th October, 1939. 0. H. Chapman, Chairman.
