No. 22/1942. —Petition of Madeline Mitchell, of Auckland Praying for inquiry into alleged unskilful treatment of Mrs. Marie Dudley while an inmate of a private hospital. I have the honour to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 2nd July, 1943.

No. 51/1942. —Petition of 1). F. Gibbons and 486 Others, of Auckland Praying that full inquiry be made concerning the advantages and suitability of the Belmont property, with a view to its acquisition and use as a convalescent home for invalids from the overseas Armed Forces. T have the honour to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. 2nd July, 1943.

No. 29—Petition of Florence E. Malkin, and 184 Others, of Auckland Praying that further measures be taken with a view to combating the spread of venereal disease. 1 have the honour to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 2nd July, 1943.

Osteopathic Practitioners Bill I have the honour to report that the Public Health Committee has heard considerable evidence on, and has carefully considered, the Osteopathic Practitioners Bill, and recommends that it be not allowed to proceed. The Committee, however, desires to express the opinion that the Government should introduce a Bill securing a measure of control over persons professionally engaging in the practice of healing, other than those already recognized in New Zealand by statute. 20th July,. 1943.

No. 7. —Petition of W. Harlow and 754 Others, of Broadwood Praying that they be afforded the right of selecting' their own doctor under the social security scheme. I iiave the honour to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 6th August, 1943. W. T. Anderton, Chairman.
