TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT

(a) Four officers returned from duty with Armed Forces, two for work in connection with Goods-service Charges Tribunal and two to meet increased work in the Department. New appointment also made of Assistant Commissioner of Transport. Amount provided on main estimates, £17,151. (b) Taking over of a new office —part of cost of fitting up. Amount provided on main estimates, £300. (c) Rent of office and " bay " taken over from New Zealand Railways for vehicle-inspection. Amount provided on main estimates, £2,093. (d) £400 provided on main estimates. (e) Increased revenue from contributions towards traffic-control work performed for local bodios. Amount provided on main estimates, Subdivision 111, £22,090. (/) Purchase of two new film-projectors for use of Road Traffic Instructors in Schools. (f/) To cover cost of screen advertising on road safety. Amount provided on main estimates, £100. (h) To cover cost of providing and installing two loud-speakers on Road Traffic Instructors' oars. Amount provided on main estimates, £350.
