Auckland University College Amendment Bill I have the honour to report that the Education Committee has carefully considered the Auckland University College Amendment Bill, and recommends that the Bill be allowed to proceed without amendment. 30th October, 1947. No. 73. —Petition of Eva M. Chillingworth, of Christchurch Praying for investigation of the circumstances of, and compensation for, the termination of her employment by the Canterbury Education Board. I have the honour to report that the Education Committee has carefully considered this petition, and, regarding sections 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 in paragraph 44 of the petition, it has no recommendation to make. Kegarding section 3, the Committee recommends that the question of granting petitioner a retiring-allowance be referred to the Government for favourable consideration, and that, in view of petitioner's many years of faithful service as a teacher, she should be permitted to retire on superannuation, and the Government grant her a compassionate allowance which will increase her superannuation to a sum not less than the age-benefit under the Social Security Act. 6th November, 1947. Adult Education Bill I have the honour to report that the Education Committee has carefully considered the Adult Education Bill, and recommends that the Bill be allowed to proceed without amendment. 7th November, 1947. Education Amendment Bill I am directed to report that the Education Committee has carefully considered the Education Amendment Bill, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed, with the amendment shown in the copy of the Bill hereto attached. 19th November, 1947. No. 53.—Petition of H. A. Scott, of Timaru Praying for a reversal of a decision of the Canterbury Education Board, or other relief.
